Strange Car Remote

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Controlling a car with an iPod seems like something take out of a fairytale or of a science fiction movie. But a man who is bound to set new standards, Jonathan Over, has just proven that it is possible and it can be done with the help of his newly invented program. He showed the world how he can not only write about stuff in technical publications, but also create strange yet futuristic devices.

The application he invented can be used to close and open a car’s doors, the trunk, the windows and to start the engine. The car owner can also see the fuel level, the speed and engine temperature on the display of the iPod. The program offer all around the world coverage, as it allows the presence of a GPS system to allow people track their car with Google Maps’ help.

The car’s computer is linked to a small laptop with the installed software that has a 3G modem attached. This is how the iPod becomes a remote control for the car. It’s wonderful that people will be able to open the car’s doors or close then even if they left the car at home and they are already two cities away. But we must consider the safety here. What if someone hacks into the system? If the car can be controlled so well, then probably the audio system can also be tracked, maybe people could listen to our conversations.

Even if there are plenty things to consider before building an iPod remote control for the car, the basic idea is quite innovative. Of course, in the case you were to use such a device you will be needing an iPod car charger, so you will have access to the software at all times, and don’t risk having low battery on the device and realizing the car is locked and you can’t get in.

It’s amazing to understand where things are right now, with all the new inventions and technologies available. No one though that iPod would appear when they did, and now, no one even dreamt of making a remote control for a car out of an iPod. And still, the fact is here and is true, which makes us think about tomorrow’s breakthrough.

Things To Know Before Tuning Your Car

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Customizing cars has become very popular over the years, especially with car movies like the Fast and the Furious. There are more tuning shops and more products available if you’re looking to tune up your car. This article will help you understand what you should know if you’re thinking about tuning your engine to add more power to the car.

Many of these options can be found online. There’s a wide range of quality when looking at these products. Some of the basic kits will promise to add more power, but they’re very basic. These kits may only be a cone air filter, which will only increase your supply by approximately 15 horse power. A basic filter can be purchased for $50-$250, depending on the quality.

Then there are turbo kits or compressors. If you’re really looking to add power, this is the way to go. A turbo kit can add a whopping 100-600 extra horse power. Unfortunately, there’s a hefty price tag and it will cost more than your basic air filters.

Basic turbo kits will usually have an exhaust manifold included in it. This is important to look out for. This will also be tailored to the type of car. They also include intercoolers with pipes, an air filter and blow off valve. To help maximize the performance they also include oil lines, several hoses and gaskets.

If your car can’t handle the improvements, you may need to make some more changes. It’s common that your clutch will need to change from stock to a sports clutch. A sports clutch can absorb the torque in an easier manner. Other stock items that may need an upgrade are the head gasket, fuel injectors, pumps, sensors, fuel pressure regulators and more.

For an entire turbo kit, it can range anywhere from $4,000 – $8,000 depending on how much work you want to do. The engine tuning and installation can add on an additional cost as well.

If the installation isn’t done properly, other parts may have problems. Always use a well known shop to do the work. If they’re a quality shop, they’ll most likely use a dynostand to do the work.

Tuning the car can be a lot of fun, but it can add up pretty quick. Once it’s done, your car will feel like a completely different car and you’ll enjoy the added benefits. Drive safe!

Fantasy NASCAR Leagues

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a NASCAR team owner or team leader? This is what the Fantasy NASCAR League allows you to experience. Several other sports offer fantasy leagues, and in fact the Fantasy NASCAR League was based on the original fantasy league, the Soccer Fantasy League, but for lovers of car racing, it is the best one.

If you do not know how the Fantasy NASCAR League works, it is quite simple to explain. People who register in the league become team owners, and they have to pick a racing team from the selection of real human drivers on the NASCAR circuit. These drivers then earn points for the team, just as they do in real life.

This means that when one of your team members is participating in a real race, say at Pocono, you can cheer him on in the anticipation that he will add points to your team’s total. This makes it fairly realistic, except that you do not have to stump up the millions of dollars it would usually cost to own such a team and run it.

The Fantasy NASCAR League teams’ points totals are then held centrally and prizes are awarded at fixed intervals: monthly, quarterly, etc.. Some Fantasy NASCAR Leagues confer prizes of gear or equipment others award prizes of cash. Some charge to become a member, others do not.

The Fantasy NASCAR League began life in the Eighties after the success of the Fantasy Soccer League proved that the idea could work, but it did not really take off until ten years later when the league became more available to more people over the Internet. Fantasy leagues based on Formula One and Indy soon followed.

There are in fact quite a few Fantasy NASCAR Leagues and the regulations vary slightly from league to league, although on the whole they all stick to the points awarded by NASCAR. However, there are often quirky rules to avoid ties such as limiting the number of times a driver’s results can be allowed for a fantasy team depending on the popularity of that driver within that fantasy league.

There are all kinds of Fantasy NASCAR Leagues, some even include motorcycle races in the list of races that a team owner has to predict, while other leagues place importance on such criteria as fastest lap time, average lap time or total time spent in first place. Sometimes these extra regulations are more important with Fantasy NASCAR Leagues that base their results on fewer races

There is of course an official NASCAR Fantasy NASCAR League, which is available at its website. In this league team owners get a hundred million dollars to put together a team and the league is based on weekly results.

It also costs real money to play. However, you may consider it a small price to pay to be embroiled with the sport you love at the official Fantasy NASCAR League level. For more information about the official Fantasy NASCAR League, please go over to their website.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece writes on quite a few topics, but is at present involved with thinking about the Poconos International Raceway in Pennsylvania. If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Poconos Vacations.

What To Know About Led Emergency Vehicle Lights

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

So, do you know what LED stands for? It means Light Emitting Diode. And nowadays, LED lights can be found in everything from kitchen appliances to toys, from electronics to automobiles, and all things in between.

When LED emergency vehicle lights first started coming out, they were used primarily to add a little extra flash to a product. Later, though, science and research began to uncover more uses for LED lights beyond the additional flashiness.

Using LED lights over lights such as incandescent, halogen, and fluorescent brings many advantages.

LED lights are more energy-efficient, smaller, and last longer. Additionally, they are more durable and improve almost anything that uses them.

LED lights are used by firefighters and police in searchlights as they are brighter than normal lights. With LEDs, these crews can see a further distance and conduct searches from afar more than they used to.

LED lights are used more in lanterns and outdoor lights these days, too. They shine longer, don’t use as much energy, and are more easily stored or taken along.

Places like stadiums, arenas, and theaters benefit from LEDs, too. LED lights don’t emit heat as much and can be controlled more easily. Large groups of people remain more comfortable, consumer prices can be lowered, and these lights create better detailed images at light shows.

Recently, television makers have begun employing LED lights in their TVs. Again, in addition to being more energy-efficient, TVs now are able to project brighter pictures than with traditional light bulbs.

Too, LEDs are becoming standard in nearly every realm of vehicle lighting. LEDs are now the primary light source in many cars’ headlights, dashboard lights, taillights, emergency lights, and more.

Aside from being used by police and firefighters, LEDs also are used more these days in emergency lighting. As the colors are stronger and brighter, they are seen more clearly, and telling apart similar colors is easier.

The following colors are emergency light colors here in the U. S. And are examples of how LEDs can make them look better.

Yellow (or Amber) is found in slower-than-normal vehicles. Snow plows, tow trucks, security patrol cars, and school buses use LEDs in this color. Road barricades or warning signs also have yellow lights.

Blue is mostly associated with one thing – law enforcement vehicles such as FBI or DEA.

Green can be used in anything from the fire chief’s car or truck to private security to a mobile command post set up in times of need.

Purple isn’t too common, but it is found occasionally on the vehicles of a funeral procession.

Red is maybe the most familiar and most common to see. It usually means an emergency. They can be seen on fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances.

White is found in any kind of neutral lighting, such as in a parking lot. But white is also used on ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks.

Regardless of the use, LED lights have become the standard lighting in almost everything. Especially, LEDs are used in emergencies because of their brightness and long-distance lighting capabilities.

What Is Meant By An Exotic Car

Monday, October 5th, 2009

One of the greatest conveniences of modern life is the automobile. Being able to get into a car and drive to wherever we want, whenever we want is a luxury that so many of us have become accustomed to that it doesn’t look likely to change any time soon. However the type of cars we drive might, because of the damage we are currently doing to the Earths atmosphere.

Cars are a huge part of our live to such an extent that a lot of people tend to judge others based on the cars they drive. If someone is seen driving around in a brand new, shiny, expensive looking car, then that person immediately seems to have more respect than someone driving an old car with a bit of rust on the body for example.

There is however, a rare type of car that few people will ever have the pleasure of being inside of, let alone driving or even owning. These kinds of cars are put under the label of exotic or luxury.

The word exotic on its own means that something is unusual or strange in appearance, and so applying this cars immediately brings images of odd looking body shapes with some kind of psychedelic paint job. What the term exotic more accurately means when referring to cars is a car of extremely high standards that only the wealthiest of people could ever consider buying and that are generally not put into mass production.

However, there are companies that put cars like this up for rent, and the better ones even do it for a reasonable price. So if youre planning on chauffeuring for an event such as a wedding or any other up-market event, then why not rent out something spectacular to complete the feel of the day?
