Sometimes these extra regulations are more important with Fantasy NASCAR Leagues that base their results on fewer races

Honda Civic Air Intakes: A Detailed Comparison

The kind of air intake system which you choose for your Honda Civic can have a huge impact on its sound, performance, and of course the damage it does to your pocket. Certain air intakes make more power or torque at varying RPM levels, some sound louder with a more aggressive note than others and some offer the best throttle response. Of course there are also those which will do the job for a good price.

There are three commonly found types of air intakes for the Honda Civic and they are short ram intakes (SRI), cold air intakes (CAI) and enclosed airboxes. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Short ram intakes are very common. These consists of a single piece of metal pipe coming off the throttle body routed to somewhere in the engine bay, usually with a POD style filter on the end. The disadvantage of these is that they draw in hot air from the engine bay, and therefore won’t make as much power. They are however extremely cheap.

The difference between a short ram intake and a cold air intake is that the latter has piping which goes into the front bumper and draws cold air in from the front of the car as opposed to warm air from the engine bay. This translates into bigger power gains because cold air is denser meaning you can get more air into the engine. They have the same sound that a short ram intake will give you but are around twice the price.

Aftermarket airboxes are essentially a more efficient version of the stock system. A large box, made of either metal or plastic, stores the cool air inside until it needs to be released. They can either use a POD or a panel filter. Although these aren’t very common on Honda Civics they are often found on race cars as they offer the best throttle response.

The Wrecker by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott

The second book in a new Western series by Clive Cussler, “one of the greatest adventure novelists of our time” (imdb), The Wrecker represents the continuation of Cussler’s entry into the classic American genre of Wild West fiction. Who knows, maybe it will turn into his most popular series yet.

A detective by the name of Isaac Bell represents the main character in The Wrecker. Bell is as athletic and fearless as James Bond and as intellectually brilliant as Sherlock Holmes.

As an independently wealthy heir to a Boston banking family, Isaac Bell pursues his detective investigations with a fury born out of an obsession and passion for justice rather than the need to make a living.

Isaac Bell gets hired by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company to find and stop a saboteur known as “The Wrecker,” who has targeted Southern Pacific construction sites throughout the West. If the sabotage continues in the midst of pressing deadlines to finish work on a major new track, it could cost Southern Pacific its good standing with its lenders, and rapidly lead to bankruptcy.

The villain known as The Wrecker may be every bit as brilliant as Isaac Bell himself, reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes’ arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. Up until the end of the novel, The Wrecker hides in plain sight within the circles of Southern Pacific Railroad president Osgood Hennessy.

The agenda of the Wrecker is to seize control of the Southern Pacific Railroad through various dummy corporations he has put in place, which will help him capture the fallout from Southern Pacific’s impending bankruptcy. Not only that but it appears he plans to eventually to control the entire United States railroad system, the greatest source of billionaire wealth in America at the turn of the last century.

Notorious as an avid automobile enthusiast, one reason why Clive Cussler may have picked the early 1900′s as the setting for his new series may well have been to give him an opportunity to write about car chases in classic automobiles from the turn of the last century.

Automobiles featured in The Wrecker include a Packard Grey Wolf, the 1907 Model 35 Thomas Flyer, winner of the New York to Paris race of 1908, Isaac Bell’s classic Locomobile, and a Bugatti Type 41 Royale.

Clive Cussler is a man of many passions, one of the best known and most obvious being his love of the ocean, as evidenced by his countless action novels revolving in and around water. But the fact that he has chosen to live in Colorado, far from the any great body of water, suggests that he also loves the rugged, arid and mountainous landscapes of the American West.

This “second” love of Clive Cussler shines through in his new Isaac Bell series in a way that will likely reinvigorate many old Wild West enthusiasts as well as give birth to a whole new generation of Western lovers. The book is a highly recommended read.

For Maximum Convenience, Use a Golf Cart Instead of Walking

There are a number of reasons why you might want to use a golf cart instead of walking between holes on the course. But, you can easily bother other golfers if you don’t use the cart properly. Let’s discuss some of the benefits of using a cart instead of walking, and how to operate one considerately.

The most obvious advantage of using a cart is that you won’t have to walk. Courses can be very large, and walkers who have to carry their golf bags will soon become tired, even if they’re in good shape. A golf cart prevents this. In addition, you can carry more with you if you choose to use a cart.

You’ll also stay sheltered from poor weather. If you walk when it’s more than 80 degrees or so outside, you’ll find that you quickly become tired and overheated in the sweltering weather. But if you take a cart along with plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated, you’ll avoid sapping your energy from excessive heat. Driving a golf cart will help you avoid heat exhaustion on the summer, and will keep you dry in the pouring spring and fall rains.

It’s important to remember that if you don’t use a cart regularly, you might not know when you need to move it, or how to drive it the right way. You might end up running back and forth, which is likely to be a nuisance to other golfers. If you don’t know what you’re doing, using a cart may cause more trouble than good.

Take extra care when driving the cart on wet grass or damp ground, and make sure to avoid muddy areas. Many courses prohibit driving on the rough to minimize the impact on the course. If your partner is old enough to drive the cart and is sitting in the driver’s seat, assume that he or she will do the driving.

Talk to your partner about who will move the cart. That keeps you from leaving it behind and having to walk back for it. Remember that you should return to the cart path when approaching the green, and bring all appropriate clubs with you when walking to it. Be willing to bring your partner a club if needed. Remember to ask him or her if a rest stop is needed when facilities are nearby.

Decide ahead of time where you are going to put the cart, and park it where it can provide shade if there is no other source available. If you are driving and your partner’s ball is next up, pull up along the right side of the ball. Make sure the ball is located midway down the length of the cart so that your partner will have less distance to walk.

Don’t drive your cart while other players are hitting, and make sure to never move in front of them. When parking the cart near the green, position it on the side where you’ll exit the green. If the ball in play is on a hill you can park nearby, but don’t drive on the hill. This can be dangerous.

Estimate how far it is to the green by reading the distance or making note of landmarks, like bushes and other landscape features. Estimate how far you are likely to send the ball. If you don’t know which club you’ll need, bring more than one so you want have to walk back to the cart multiple times.

Spartan Gold by Clive Cussler and Grant Blackwood

Spartan Gold is the first in a new series by New York Times bestseller Clive Cussler in cooperation with action novel writer Grant Blackwood.

The new series is referred to as “Fargo Adventures,” based on its action heroes, a married couple named Sam and Remi Fargo.

Having fulfilled the American dream early in life to become independently wealthy, the Fargos now devote themselves to archeological treasure hunting; and they let nothing stand in their way of finding what they search for.
